My three week total would have been what I ran in 1.5 weeks just three months ago. I’m slowly upping my miles in preparation for my training season for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. Lately, I’ve been running slow paced efforts to acclimate to the hot mid-west temperatures. If the last few weeks is any indication of the kind of weather I’ll be running in, then I’m in for a challenging season. I know there are many benefits to running in the heat (enlarged capillaries, better aerobic functions, more tuned thirst mechanism) and I hope to perform well in the cooler Fall races.

I geek out with training plans and drastically changed my previous plan for the last 3 marathons. 2012 Monumental Marathon Plan. I cut out a week and track type workouts. Instead, I’m focusing on longer repeats (1200s-2mile) and better effort tempo runs. Feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
