I started building my miles in December right after a week off from running the California International Marathon. I have to admit that I may have hit the hills too soon and too hard which may have been the cause of my knee problem. Instead of backing off too much on the mileage, I decided to take a slower approach than I had planned to average 80+ mile weeks. So far I think it’s worked since my knee seems to be getting better with each run. I’ve also concentrated on my form when running downhill. Keeping my strides really short and my turnover quick. In all, I think I put in an honest effort in acclimating to the trails to become a better runner.

Goal for February is to become faster on descents in preparation for the PCTR Malibu Creek 25k while continuing to build on my climbing efforts. I also hope to convince more people to join me on my runs.
