January 2012 Playlist: Hipsters and Hippies

Song suggestions from @cristinaagomez’s “Road Trip Mix” led me to create a playlist that were complimentary to those songs. I can pretty run to any type of music when I run, but I prefer slower songs that I can possibly sing to (or at least make up words or hum to:-) Nothing like cresting a hill while singing a ballad from Air Supply! Music does a lot to keep a person sane out on long treks on the trails. I’ve broken my rule of no music on the trails since I’ve been trekking on my own. I know it’s dangerous, but the music does a good job of hiding the rustling in the bushes that scares me:-\

So, why this particular playlist? I have hipster tendencies, but have been described (by said “Road Trip Mix” master DJ) as a hippie, so this should be the perfect mix of songs. Can you guess which songs are hipsters and which are hippies?

  1. Nice list! When I used to marathon I used to metnally decorate my apartment on my long runs. I’d imagine my ideal living room and then fill it with furniture, wall color and coverings… etc. It was sorta like a more temporary Pinterest, if you will. ;P I doubt you’d be as interested in decorating an apartment on your long runs, but maybe you could also think about what you’d plant in your ideal garden in addition to listening to Limon y Sal on repeat. And for the immediate future, Portland. 😀 xocg

    • I’m constantly thinking about things to do in Oregon:-) I think of a lot of random things on my long runs. I sing, which isn’t always good for the people who can hear me.
