Week Eight – Marathon Training Recap

This week was challenging. Went to the track workout and the tempo run without any excitement. I’m usually hyped for those workouts and start them with the mindset of “hard work=improvement”. For me, it’s all mental with these workouts because I know I can do them, it’s just getting down to doing them the right way. I’ll have to be more aware of my preparation leading up to speed workouts and make sure all negative self-talk is out of my head. When I feel I’ve prepared poorly, doubt creeps in, which leads to a “blah” feeling pre-run.

Saturday was a nice change of scenery. Picked-up 13 miles with a run from South Pasadena to Downtown L.A. with some Gritty and CalTri folks. Took a long rest and ran another 5 miles in the evening to get my 18 for the day. Had a nice long stretch and core session at La Canada track.

Body’s been feeling good all week. Nutritionally, it wasn’t the best of weeks. My eating habits during my recovery days continued to my training days. Still need to do a better job hydrating correctly.
